Checking Content Readability
Aim for keeping the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level of your articles between 7th and 9th grade.
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Copy the article content from TDX and paste it into to a Word document.
No text restyling or reformatting is required, but you may correct spelling and grammar if you wish.
- On the Ribbon menu, click Review.
- Click Editor. A sidebar will open showing various characteristics of the text.
- Scroll down to Insights and click Document Stats.
- If a confirmation pop-up appears, click OK. The readability statistics pop-up will display your content's readability scores.
Improving Content with Gen-AI
You can use Gen-AI (e.g. ChatGPT, Grok, Copilot) to improve your existing text draft.
- Create article draft in TDX.
- Access the Gen-AI tool of your choice.
- In the Gen-AI's chat prompt, paste the following instruction set.
Treat this chat absolutely independently and do not use context from other chats. You are an expert Knowledge Base Specialist. Revise the article content to enhance clarity, structure, and consistency. Correct grammatical errors, improve sentence flow, and ensure smooth transitions between ideas. Replace passive voice with active voice where applicable and correct any subject-verb agreement issues. Remove redundancy while preserving all essential information, ensuring the content remains concise, clear, coherent, and professional. Adjust the language to maintain a readability level appropriate for a 9th-grade audience based on the Flesch-Kincaid scale. Ensure all website hyperlinks are masked behind their target page titles to enhance readability and accessibility:
- Paste the article draft contents right after the instruction set text.
- Submit your prompt for processing.
- Review the Gen-AI-generated draft and modify /rerun as needed.
- Copy the refined content
Do not use Ctrl+V or simple paste to transfer content from a generative AI tool into TDX.
- Use the ‘Paste as plain text’ feature to transfer the content into the TDX article body.
- Format the pasted content as needed in TDX.
- Save or submit the article like you normally do.
