Body

This article is Zoom users and describes the different Zoom host types: Alternative host vs Co-host

There are two different types of hosts for Zoom meetings aside from the owner of a Zoom meeting.

  • Co-Host: Has the same permissions as the host but can only be assigned after the meeting has started. At that point, any participant (including external or non-UNC attendees) can be designated as a co-host.

  • Alternative Host: Assigned before the meeting starts. This person can take over as host if the meeting creator cannot join. To be set as an alternative host, the user must have a UNC licensed  Zoom account.

Please ensure users are using onyen@email.unc.edu as the format when setting users as an alternative host.

Information about alternative hosts can be found on the Zoom FAQ article.
