ResNET Gaming Devices Policy

Tags ResNET

This article will guide you through adding a gaming device to ResNET's gaming policy. This is a special policy that can help connectivity to games normally prevented from connecting by UNC's firewall.

When you register your device as a gaming device, it will not be protected by a stateful firewall and will be vulnerable to attacks from the internet. We only recommend selecting this option if the games you play are incompatible with our current firewall policy. Your device will be given an IP address that can access the internet, and connectivity to campus will be restricted. If you are no longer in need of this special registration, you can remove your device from the gaming policy and your connectivity will return to a firewalled state.
