This article explains how UNC Chapel Hill employees and affiliates can access and complete the General Security Awareness Training.
Training Overview
All UNC Chapel Hill employees and affiliates are required to complete the General Security Awareness Training annually. This mandatory training is designed to help you:
- Identify key security threats to personal and university data
- Learn best practices to protect sensitive information
- Develop skills to prevent cyber risks
Assignment and Expectation
- Assignment: Eligible users (e.g., new hires or those due for annual training) will receive an email with a direct link to the training.
- Completion window: 60 days from assignment
- Reminders sent: 10 days, 5 days, and 1 day before the due date
- Non-Completion: Respective managers are notified if training becomes overdue
How to Access the Training
Option 1: Use the Email Link
- Click the direct link in your assignment email.
Option 2: Manual Navigation
- Go to the Connect Carolina site.
- Click Login and enter your Onyen and password to access the Self-Service page.
- On the Self-Service page, select the Carolina Talent Learning tile.
- On the Carolina Talent site, the Transcript section on the left-hand side lists training statuses: Past Due, Due Soon, and Assigned Trainings.
Notes: The training will only appear if you are a new employee/affiliate, or you have not completed the training in the past 12 months.
- If the training is assigned or due, click the title (General Security Awareness Training)
- Click Launch.
