E-mail notifications are sent to members of the UNC community advising them of mandatory Information Security Awareness Training on an annual basis. The message will come from “Information Technology Services” with a return address of no_reply@email.unc.edu.
The text of the message is below:
“Members of the UNC community are required to complete an annual information security awareness training. According to our records, you have not yet completed the training during this training cycle. The training module can be completed in 15-20 minutes and will help you recognize ways to keep University resources more secure.
To access and compete the training, log in to ConnectCarolina and select Self Service. From there, you will see a tile called Useful Links that contains a link to Security Awareness Training.
If you encounter difficulty accessing the training, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 919-962-HELP.
Thank you for helping to keep the University’s data safe!”

STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS
- Open a browser and navigate to ConnectCarolina site.
- Log in using your onyen. Once logged in, you should see a screen similar to the image below.
- In the top center of the window will be a drop-down option, select “Self Service” is you are not automatically on that tab. If you are on that tab, the “Useful Links” tile will already be present on your screen.
- As pictured, your initial title may say “Faculty Portal” or “Admin WorkCenter” depending on your role at the University, regardless, “Self Service” will be an option once the drop down is clicked.
- After selecting “Self Service”, there will be a tile labeled “Useful Links” on the screen. Inside of that tile will be a link to the training titled “Security Awareness Training”. Click that link to access the training. It is outlined in red in the image below to highlight what it will look like.
