This article walks through the basics of how to use Atlas.ti, as well as saving and opening Project Bundles.
Atlas.ti version 8 and version 23 are available in the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) side of Virtual Lab. To use Atlas.ti version 23, you must have an Atlas.ti account and accept an invite to join the license pool used in AVD. Steps for this, along with steps for exporting your Atlas.ti project can be found below. You can access AVD here.
Note: This is for use only in Azure Virtual Desktop. You will need to purchase an individual license if you wish to install and license Atlas.ti on your personal machine outside of AVD.

Steps to use Atlas.ti 23 in AVD
- If you do not already have an Altas.ti account you will need to create one here. A verification email will be sent to the email address you register with. An Atlas.ti account is required to use Atlas.ti version 23. If you already have an account you can skip to the next step.
- Once you have an account, click here to accept the invite to join the license pool.
- After you have accepted the license invite, go to Azure Virtual Desktop and launch Atlas.ti 23
- Log into Atlas.ti 23 using your Atlas.ti account and use the software.
Note: You will only need to accept the invite one time. After your account is connected to our license pool, just launch the software and log in. These steps are only needed for version 23. Version 8 does not require log in.
Saving a Project as a Project Bundle
When you are ready to save your project, choose file from the top left > export > export project bundle > choose where you would like to save your project bundle. It is recommended that you do this periodically to save your work.
Opening a Project Bundle
When you open ATLAS.ti you should have a screen like the one shown below. To open your project bundle choose import project bundle > browse to where you have the project saved and import the file.
