CCI Configuration Package - macOS

This article contains information for Faculty, Staff and Students on how to setup their new Apple computer with the CCI configuration package.

 

Intro

The CCI Configuration package will install Microsoft Office, Carolina Print Hub print drivers, a UNC Support account for troubleshooting, etc... These steps may be started once your unique User Account has been created ((Do NOT use Apple ID as initial account creation, you can sign in and sync later). Out-of-the-box instructions for Macbooks are available on Apple’s website.

 

Information

  1. Download CCI Configuration Package
    You will need to log in with your Onyen credentials to start the download. If you are already logged in elsewhere, the download will begin immediately.
     
  2. Open Finder, navigate to your downloads, and double-click the file "CCI Configuration.pkg"
    You may encounter an error that the package is from an unidentified developer. Follow these steps to open the file. If your file opens normally, skip to step III.
     
    1. Select “OK” on the error you receive.

       
    2. Open “System Settings” from the drop-down menu after clicking the Apple logo in the top left corner.

       
    3. In “System Settings” select “Privacy & Security”.

       
    4. Scroll down and select “Open Anyway”
       
    5. Select "Open"

       
  3. Running the CCI Configuration Package Installer
     
    1. Select "Continue"

       
    2. Select "Install"

       
    3. If prompted for a username and password, enter the username you created during laptop setup or scan your fingerprint (not pictured). Select “Install Software.”

       
    4. Select "Continue Installation"

       
    5. Installation will now begin and taken 5 to 10 minutes depending on model of computer.
       
    6. When prompted, restart your computer and log back into your User Account.
       
  4. Office Setup
     
    1. Office was installed during the configuration. Select any Office application from the Dock. This example is using Word.
       
    2. Select "Get Started"

       
    3. Select "Sign in or create account"

       
    4. Log in with your onyen@ad.unc.edu and select "Next"

       
    5. If prompted, select "Work of School Account" on the next screen

       
    6. You will be redirected to sign in with your onyen and password
       
    7. Authorize two-factor prompt from mobile device
       
    8. Once Word opens, select “Help” from the menu bar and select “Check for Updates”

       
    9. Install all necessary updates
