Carolina Print Hub - Tips for Print Fails

Carolina Print Hub, tips for printing troublesome documents that may fail to process, only print some pages, or not fit to the page.

Carolina Print Hub - Tips for Printing:

  • Documents that don’t fit or fall off the page

 

  1. Ensure your laptop is connected to the Eduroam wifi network, not the “unc guest” network.
     
  2. Install the Carolina Print Hub Printing Client on your laptop, for separate Color and Black/White prints.
     
    1. Get the Carolina Print Hub Printing Client from the UNC Software Distribution site.

  3. Open the document in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader.
    1. Available within the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, or free from shareware at UNC Software Distribution site:
    2. If the file instead opens in a browser, close the browser
      1. Right Click on the file name, select “Open With”, and choose Adobe Acrobat
         
  4. Select File > Print or use the Printer icon in the top right corner. This opens the Print Setup menu.
     
    1. For documents that fail to process, take too long, or only print some of the pages:

      Use the Advanced menu to select “Print As Image”
      1. This addresses flattening or transparency issues while rendering.
      2. For “Cheat Sheets”, things with lots of charts, images, boxes within text.


         
    2. For documents that are custom size, or the print falls off the side of the page:
      Use the Page Sizing options to “Shrink Oversized Pages”, or “Fit” your document to 8.5x11 Letter paper.


       
  5. Enter your Onyen and a name for your print job in the popup window.

     
  6. At a Carolina Print Hub printing station, login with the keyboard using your Onyen and password.

    The print job should be listed for print release.
