Virtual Lab: Installing on an Android Device

This article contains instructions for faculty, staff and students on how to install the Citrix Workspace application and use the virtual lab on an android device.

 

Introduction

Virtual Lab is a system that lets you use your laptop or mobile device to access programs normally found only in computer labs and libraries. To use Virtual Lab on an Android device, the first step is to install the Citrix Workspace.

You need to be connected to the internet when installing or using the Citrix Workspace application.

 

Instructions

  1. Tap the Play Store icon on your device.
  2. Search for and install the Citrix Workspace app.

     
  3. When the installation has completed, open the Workspace app to go to the Citrix Workspace welcome page.

     
  4. Tap the Get Started buttton.

     
  5. Type virtuallab.unc.edu in the Server box, and tap Continue.


     

  6. Tap Log on. After you successfully authenticate with MS Authenticator and your onyen credentials you should now be able to browse the available apps in Virtual Lab.

    1. You are then taken to your Home page in the Workspace app.

    2. From the home page tap the menu icon in the top left and tap apps to see a list of all the Virtual Lab applications.

    3. Use the star icon for the app to add the app to your favorites so you can easily get to them from the home screen.

       

Congratulations! You have now accessed the Virtual Lab Desktop.

The next time you log in to Virtual Lab, tap the Favorites tab to see your favorite applications.
