Service Description
Information technology support and services for UNC Hussman faculty and staff offered by Hussman IT. Services and support include classroom technology and AV, broadcast studio, hardware and software, printing and general technical guidance and consultations.
Audiovisual and Production Support
Request audiovisual (AV) and production support for classes, events, meetings and recordings in Hussman School of Journalism and Media spaces in Carroll Hall and the Curtis Media Center.
Two ways to get support
- Hussman IT Support is free during business hours, Monday through Friday, when staff are available. We review requests outside those hours and contact you with a decision before your event. If IT can’t cover your event, Hussman Production Services is a paid alternative.
- Hussman Production Services is a student-run crew for hire that can work during or outside business hours. There is a fee. Submit the request and the Production Services team will follow up with availability and a quote.
What you can request
- General classroom support: on-site help setting up and running the room’s technology for your class.
- Classroom demo or consultation: meet with IT staff in the room before your event to learn the system.
- Live production or streaming: graduations, ceremonies and events streamed to an audience. This can be a full multi-camera production with a crew and switcher, or a simple stream or recording through Zoom or Panopto.
- Podcast recording: an audio or video podcast session in a studio, with an operator.
- Guest speaker: a single speaker or a panel, in person or joining remotely by video call.
- Class recording or stream: record or stream a class session through Zoom or Panopto.
- Studio recording: a single-camera video message or standup, or a multi-camera interview, with optional teleprompter and post-production.
- Meeting support: AV for faculty, staff and department meetings, including presentation, microphones, recording and streaming.
How it works
Pick the type of support you need, and the form will ask only the questions that apply. Include the date, time, room, and any details that will help us prepare, such as attendee count, number of speakers, slides or devices to connect, and remote participants.
Please submit requests at least 5 business days before your event. We can’t guarantee requests submitted later.
Audience
Hussman School of Journalism and Media faculty, staff, and students, plus any UNC-Chapel Hill department, unit, or group approved to book Hussman spaces in Carroll Hall or the Curtis Media Center.
