Firewall Request

Service Description

The University hardware firewalls are managed by the Information Security Office (ISO) and are funded at no cost to customers. The Firewall service provides protection from internal and external threat actors who often attempt to gain unauthorized access to the UNC-Chapel Hill campus network. While “unauthorized access” is a broad term, it often describes malicious behavior in the form of vulnerability exploitation, malware, hacking and data exfiltration.

Firewall configurations are:

  1. Continuously synchronized;
  2. Backed up on a daily basis
  3. Centrally logged
  4. Monitored 24×7

Firewall logs and configurations can be provided upon customer request.
