Printing on a Carolina Print Hub Station

This article walks you through how to print on a Carolina Print Hub Station

Introduction

You can use your personal computer or mobile device to print on the Carolina Print Hub print stations. You can submit documents to print from anywhere and pick them up in any of the Carolina Print Hub print stations across campus. (Note: The print stations in the residence halls are restricted to the residents who live in those residence halls.)

You can use the Carolina Print Hub print stations either by installing the Carolina Print Hub printing software (called "Pharos") or by using an application called "mobile print." For information on using mobile print, read the instructions for using mobile print. Touchless printing is only available through the mobileprint app on IOS and Android. The steps below show how to send and release a print job using the Carolina Print Hub printing software available here.

Instructions

To print using the Pharos client on your computer, you need a valid Onyen, a campus network connection and the Carolina Print Hub Printing Client installed on your computer (see instructions for installing the Carolina Print Hub printing application).

To print to the Carolina Print Hub print stations, follow these steps:

  1. Select the document you would like to print by going to File > Print.
  2. In the Name field, choose CCI_Printing or renamed as Carolina Print Hub:
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the Pharos Popup Client dialog box that displays, enter your Onyen and a name for your print job:

    Your document is sent to the Carolina Print Hub print stations, and you will have one hour to retrieve it.

Picking up Your Printout at a Carolina Print Hub Print Station

  1. If the printer screen is black, the device is asleep.  Press any of the physical buttons or touch the screen to wake up the printer.  The screen will look like the image below.
  2. Press the yellow “PRESS HERE," button.  You should then be prompted for a username and password.  Use the attached keyboard to enter your Onyen and password.  
  3. After you log in you will see your print jobs listed.  Select what print jobs you want to release using the check box next to each job.  Press the green print button when you are ready to print the selected print jobs.
