This article provides step-by-step instructions for accessing TDX data in Tableau Desktop through Citrix.
Before You Begin
To view Data Warehouse data in Tableau Desktop, you must have both:
- A service account, and
- An active Tableau license
If you are not sure whether you or your team has a service account or Tableau license, check with your supervisor.

Instructions
After receiving your service account and Tableau license, follow these steps to log in and access the Data Warehouse.
Log in to Citrix
- Go to UNC Citrix Application.
- Log in with your Onyen (UNC username) and password.
- Authenticate with Duo security.
Launch Tableau
- In Citrix, click the Apps icon at the top of the page.
- In the search box, type Tableau Desktop
- From the results, select the desktop, e.g., Tableau Desktop 2025n, and login to Tableau Desktop with your credentials (if you haven't logged in before).

Connect to the Data Warehouse
- In Tableau, go to the left-hand menu under To a Server and select Oracle.
- In the Oracle connection window, enter the Production (PRD) environment details:
- Server: db-edwprd.itsdba.unc.edu
- Service: edwprd.unc.edu
- Port: 1521
- Select Use a specific username and password
- Enter your service account username and password.
- Select Sign In

Note: In rare cases, if you need to connect the
Non-Prod (SPT) environment, enter the following details in the Oracle window:
- Server: db-edw01spt.itsdba.unc.edu
- Service: edw01spt.itsdba.unc.edu
- Port: 1521
- Select Use a specific username and password
- Enter your service account username and password.
- Select Sign In.
Select a Schema
- In Tableau, click the Data Source tab (bottom left).
- Use the dropdown menu to choose a schema.
- For TeamDynamix (TDX) data, select DS_TDX.

- After selecting, available tables will appear in the workspace.
- Double-click any table name to view and interact with the data.

- Use these tables to build worksheets and dashboards.
