  1. In Meeting Recordings, mouse over a recorded session, and click Share:

  1. Under Who can access this video, click the Change link.

  1. After selecting the appropriate access group, close the share settings window.

Share through Sakai@UNC

  • The following directions describe how to share an existing Zoom recording from Panopto with a Panopto folder created in Sakai.
  1. Before accessing Panopto through Sakai, make sure that you have logged directly into the UNC Panopto site with your Onyen and password at least once (i.e. not through Sakai.) Logging directly into Panopto will move Zoom Cloud Recordings made September 5, 2020 or later into your My Folder > Meeting Recordings subfolder on Panopto.
  2. Go to Sakai@UNC and navigate to the desired course site.
  3. Go to Site Info and click Manage Tools.
  4. Scroll to the bottom section for External Tools.
  5. Check Panopto, click Continue, and then click Finish.
  6. Click on the new Panopto tool from your site’s tool menu on the left column.
  7. Click the Open in Panopto icon () on the far right. Panopto will open in a new browser tab.
  8. Go to My Folder > Meeting Recordings:

  1. In Meeting Recordings, mouse over the first meeting to move, and click the checkbox to select it. Select any additional recordings, and then click the Share button at the top of the screen.

  1. Begin typing your Sakai course ID (e.g. Psychology 102 section 3 for the Spring 2022 semester would be PSYC102.003.SP22) into the Add people and groups box. Select the appropriate Viewer group(s) from the list of available options:

  1.  Important: Notify people via email is selected by default. If you do not want to send an email notification, be sure to click to deselect that option:

How do I access Zoom Cloud Recordings after they are deleted from Zoom?

  • Zoom Cloud Recordings made September 5, 2020 and later have been imported to Panopto for you, but you will need to take action to share them with viewers.

What is the Zoom Cloud Recording deletion schedule?

  • Zoom Cloud Recordings will be subject to scheduled deletion beginning January 7, 2021. Once deleted, these recordings will be moved to your Cloud Recordings trash bin for 30 days. Cloud Recordings made
    • before December 8, 2020 will be deleted.
    • between December 8, 2020 and January 6, 2021 will remain available in Zoom for 1-29 days, according to the date they were recorded.
    • on January 7 and afterward will be available for 30 days from the date of recording.

  • Note that shared links to deleted recordings will no longer work while they are in your trash bin or when they are permanently deleted. You may temporarily recover a recording for one day, after which it will automatically move back to your trash bin.

  • If you need to make a Zoom Cloud Recording available for viewing for longer than 30 days, we encourage you to use Panopto@UNC. Zoom Cloud Recordings made after September 5, 2020 have already been imported to Panopto, but you will need to take action to share them with viewers. (See “How do I use Panopto@UNC to share Zoom Cloud Recordings,” above.)

Will the Recording Analytics data be imported into Panopto?

  • Unfortunately, no, and this information cannot be recovered once a recording is deleted. We encourage you to export each recording’s analytics .csv file for your records. You’ll find more information about Zoom Recording Analytics on Zoom’s Managing cloud recordings help page.

How do I automatically import future Zoom Cloud Recordings into a Sakai site?

  • Important note: The most consistent way to maintain proper mapping with Zoom Cloud Recordings and your Sakai site is to update your primary UNC directory email address to follow the pattern yourOnyen@email.unc.edu. If this option is not viable for you, please submit a service request.
  1. Log in at UNC Zoom and create a recurring meeting for your course. Copy/note the meeting number.
  8. Click your name in the upper right corner, then User Settings.
  9. Scroll to Meeting Import Settings to create folder mappings for the meetings you own.
  10. Directly under "No Folder Mappings" click Add New.
  11. Paste the Zoom meeting number into the Meeting ID. Under Folder ID, start typing in your Sakai Course ID. When your Sakai Panopto folder appears in the list, select it, and then click Save. All of this meeting’s cloud recordings will automatically be copied to this Panopto folder*. Students may access these by clicking the Panopto tool in Sakai.

*In order to complete the Zoom Cloud Recordings sync with Panopto, you will have to log in to the UNC Panopto site directly to sync your Zoom account with your Panopto account.
