Service Description
This outlines the support we provide for UNC School of Government students and employees.
The Service Desk provides general support to all employees and is usually the first line of defense when encountering an issue. They can help with things like
- Folder access or permissions
- Issues with your computer or other hardware (monitors, keyboards, docking stations, etc)
- Printing
- Software purchases or installation
- Wi-Fi access
- Mailing lists & distribution groups
- Classroom Technology Management
- Canvas issues

The Apps Team manages all SOG websites and applications. They can help with things like
- Website Updates/Revisions/Analytics
- Custom applications
- Automation / Integrations
The Instructional Design team creates and supports instructional content at SOG.
- Pedagogical Consulting: The team works closely with faculty and staff to improve instructional practices and enhance learner outcomes. This includes collaboratively redesigning syllabi and thinking through activities that align with adult learning theory.
- Designing and Developing Instructional Products: They design and develop various instructional products, including online courses, training modules, animated explainers, learning assessments, and interactive "microlearning" such as infographics.
- Instructional Technology Coaching and Selection: The team also coaches and supports stakeholders in the use of instructional technologies, including the Canvas LMS
Audience
All SOG students and employees.
Support
Support is provided during normal business hours or when SOG programs or classes are being held.
Expected Delivery
The initial response time is typically within 4 hours.
