This article provides guidance on configuring the native iOS Mail app with UNC email accounts.
Note: These steps will only work for iPhones/iPads running iOS/iPadOS 12.0+ and later.
Adding a New Account
- Please start by opening Settings
- Scroll down and select Mail
- Within Mail, click Accounts and then select Microsoft Exchange
- Enter your email address in the format onyen@ad.unc.edu. The description will default to "Exchange" but this can be altered as desired.
- Click Sign in on the pop-up that will appear
- This will open a website where you can enter your Onyen password
- After signing in, you will be prompted to verify the login with 2-step verification.
Note: After verifying with 2-step verification you may need to click Settings at the top-left to finish the login process. This does not always happen automatically.
- You should be presented with a page asking you what information you would like to sync. Select the items you would like to be available on your phone and click Save.
Caution: Be sure to click Save at the end of the process. Failure to do so will cause the account to not be added.
