This article covers how to open Resource Mailboxes in various devices and applications.
Before You Begin
The University offers Microsoft 365 Resource Mailboxes, which are essentially mailboxes with calendar-only features. To request the creation of a resource calendar for Microsoft 365, please submit an Microsoft 365 Support service request. This can be done
here.
After your resource mailbox is established, you can follow the instructions provided below to access it.
Please note that the University mandates the use of 2-Step Verification for Microsoft 365. For guidance on setting up this security feature, refer to the
2-Step for Office 365 information page.
Adding a Resource Mailbox
Choose your Outlook version:
Opening a Resource Calendar
Outlook Online
- Go to Microsoft 365 and click on Outlook Online.
- Click on the calendar icon.
- Click on Add Calendar on the left-hand navigation.
- Choose “Add from directory”.
- Select an account to search from.
- Enter the calendar name.
- Click on Open.
Outlook (Outlook 365 Classic/2016/2013)
- Click on the Calendar icon in the lower left-hand corner.
- Click on Open Calendar.
- Click on Shared Calendar.
- Enter the name or Friendly name of the resource calendar.
- Click OK.
New Outlook
- Click on the calendar icon.
- Click on Add Calendar on the left-hand navigation.
- Choose “Add from directory”.
- Select an account to search from.
- Enter the calendar name.
- Click on Open.
Outlook (365/2016)
- Click on Tools and Accounts.
- Click on Advanced.
- Click on Delegates.
- Click on the Plus sign under “Open these additional mailboxes”.
- Enter the name or friendly name of the resource mailbox.
- Click Add.
- Click on the Calendar icon at the bottom of Outlook
- Click your initials or photo at the top-left of the screen
- Click the icon on the left showing a calendar and a plus sign
- Click Add shared calendars
- Enter the friendly name or address of the shared calendar
- Click the plus box on the right next to the calendar you would like to add
