2-Step Verification via Office 365 or Duo

At UNC, there are two ways to 2-Step. Having more than one way to verify your identity might seem confusing at first, but these two industry-standard tools are the most effective ways to protect your accounts.  This article explains the differences between the two.

MFA

Microsoft 2 Factor Authentication, often called MFA.  MFA is used as secondary authentication method for all Office 365 services.  Details regarding MFA and how to setup, reset the account, or edit settings can be found at:

DUO

DUO security is used for all non-Office 365 applications (such as VPN and online W-2s) on campus that require 2-Step for access.  Details regarding DUO and how to setup, reset the account, or edit settings can be found at 2-Step Authentication: Duo Security.
