2-Step for Office 365: MFA Reset

The process below will allow you to reset MFA without needing to contact the ITS Service Desk. This process will require that you have 2-Step Verification for DUO set up.

Before You Begin

To complete this process you must be able to login with your Onyen and have 2-Step verification for DUO set up.

If you are having issues with your Onyen login, you can manage your Onyen at the Onyen Services site.

If you are having issues with DUO you can find directions for setting up or resetting DUO at 2-Step Authentication: Duo Security.

 

The below steps will walk you through resetting MFA:

  1. Go to Self Service Tool. Login via SSO with your Onyen and password.
  2. Approve the sign in with 2-Step authentication for DUO.
  3. Select MFA Reset from the list in the center of the page or on the menu on the left hand side of the page (These links lead to the same page). 
  4. Select Reset.
  5. You should see the message "MFA is not enabled for this account, Please proceed with enabling MFA for your account" this indicates that MFA has been reset.

  1. Please visit Office Portal or Outlook Online. You should be prompted to set up MFA.
